IPS®ComponentManagement provides information systems, data models, rule sets, and data management for utilities to facilitate compliance with the ISO/IEC 27000 family of standards, which includes information technology, security techniques, and information security management systems.

The standards require DSOs and TSOs to demonstrate that ISMS data management, configurations, and versions of all smart devices in stations are tracked in a centralized information system in a standardized manner.

IPS®ENERGY has introduced a concept of components, which means:

  • Components are centrally organized and configured at Asset Type.
    • For each manufacturer/type/… at the Asset Type level, individual Component Hierarchy can be defined,
    • including historical management of archived, valid or obsolete versions and
    • their validity – Patch Management.
  • Standardized and centralized Component hierarchy can be assigned, modified, or deleted on each individual Asset Instance.
  • Users can centrally manage the Component version lifecycle at the Asset Type level and immediately obtain the list of maintenance activities required to keep the fleet of smart devices at the required version level.

IPS®RELEX reads GE URS native files.

IPS®RELEX is a specialized tool for power system protection data management. It allows you to manage all relevant data of the power system, relay locations, technical documentation, relay setting history, relay setting and relay template handling, multiple comparison options, and even test automation and test document handling. It has integrated the world’s most comprehensive library of relay models.

The latest IPS®RELEX has been extended with a brand new GE UR (URS) data reader.
With this upgrade, we have greatly simplified the process of handling protection data by enabling the direct import of native URS files for versions between V4.x and V8.x. In the case of a lower version, the old CSV data reader will still be used.

The above updates are already implemented in IPS®ENERGY version 1.93.115 and IPS Master Data Package 50 (MDP50).

IEC published a new CIM standard

Common Information Model is an abstract model representing all the significant objects in an electric utility enterprise typically involved in utility operations.

CIM provides a standard way to represent power system assets and their relationships and accelerate the integration of independently developed network applications by different vendors. It simplifies integrating a system running network applications and other systems concerned with various aspects of power system operations, such as generation or distribution management.

The CIM expedites integration by specifying a universal language based on the CIM. It allows these applications or systems to access public data and exchange it independently of how such information is represented internally.

Main changes according to the previous edition:

  • Added Feeder modeling;
  • Added ICCP configuration modeling;
  • Correction of issues found in interoperability testing or use of the standard;
  • Improved documentation;
  • Updated Annex A – with custom extensions;
  • Added Annex B – Examples of PST transformer modeling;
  • Added Annex C – HVDC use cases.

The IPS®NMM is extended with the CIM17 data model extensions and supports the creation of both profiles, CIM 16 and CIM 17.
